Grading the regular season

Coaching Staff – B - The coaching staff has done a good job preparing the team each week and not allowing the team to fall after the Smith-Lucas altercation in training camp that very easily could have divided the team. Still, there are times where the team gets too conservative in its play calling, allowing their opponents to get back into games after the Panthers should have put it out of reach. Offensive Line – A - The Offensive Line has been one of the strengths of the team, allowing 20 sac… Continue

Why is the worst divisional playoff match-up on in primetime? (Yahoo! Sports)

Of the four divisional playoff games this weekend, the Arizona Cardinals - Carolina Panthers match-up is easily...

Panthers win with Delhomme's new elbow, odd style (AP)

Jake Delhomme's critics have plenty of material to work with. His arm isn't that strong. He doesn't move well. He seemingly throws balls up for grabs and Steve Smith bails him out. He always has a mediocre passer rating. And why is he yelling at his teammates? All that, and the fiery Delhomme is 54-32 in six seasons with the Carolina Panthers, including 5-2 in the playoffs.

Panthers spending weekend in front of TV (AP)

Before the Carolina Panthers finished a leisurely workout Friday, coach John Fox handed out weekend instructions to his players: rest, stay out of trouble and watch football on TV. A key perk of being the No. 2 seed in the NFC is a first-round bye and a second-round home game. Meanwhile, their opponent on Jan.

Wild first week for Panthers' Parker ends with win (AP)

Before John Kasay lined up for a 42-yard field goal attempt Sunday that would determine if Carolina got a first-round bye in the playoffs, J'Vonne Parker nervously ran on the field to line up as the right end. Parker had been a Panther for five days. But a rash of injuries had left him the only big body to fill a hole on a play that would determine if the Panthers would be the No.

Panthers Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

For all of the time the Carolina Panthers spend drawing up plays in meeting rooms and working on precision pass routes in practice, two of the biggest plays this season have come when Jake Delhomme has taken on the role of playground quarterback, chucking a ball downfield and letting 5-foot-9 wide receiver Steve Smith use his incredible athletic ability to make the catch.

For the second time in five weeks, a downfield heave from Delhomme to Smith with the game on the line led to a crucial, perhaps season-saving victory for the Carolina Panthers.

On Sunday at the Louisiana Superdome, Delhomme fired a pass off his back foot and let Smith go up and get it, culminating in a 39-yard gain that led to John Kasay's winning 42-yard field goal with one second left and an NFC...

Fox: it's the best offense we've had

Carolina Panthers coach John Fox called this year's offense the best he's had since taking over as head coach in 2002. "I think there's no doubt it's the best offense we've had since I've been here as a head coach, if you look at the production level," Fox said. "And a lot's gone into that.

Regular Season Grades

Now that the regular season is over, we sit back and reflect on the season that the Panthers had.

'Double Trouble' busy smashing records

They might have changed their nickname on Sunday, but DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart certainly didn't change their running style. Carolina's dynamic rushing duo combined for 234 yards on the ground and both ran their way into the record books as the Panthers defeated the New Orleans Saints 33-31 to win the NFC South division title and clinch a first-round bye in the playoffs.

NFC South Champs get first round bye

The Carolina Panthers did something that no other NFC South opponent did this season: Win a divisional road game.

Offense clicking at crucial time

Carolina's offense is on a roll unlike ever before, scoring at least 28 points in six straight games. They've never been stronger on the ground, rushing for a franchise-record 2,203 yards and 29 touchdowns.
